Our journey to raising more sustainable chickens and turkeys begins at our farms, where we continuously innovate to shrink our carbon footprint, from exploring renewable energy sources for coop operations to collaborating with producers on feed options with smaller environmental impact.

Processing Facility

Whether it’s big or small changes, we’re always searching for ways to cut waste, reduce energy and water usage at our plant. Our teams are dedicated to finding innovative ways to minimize our environmental footprint, all while being trained to become more sustainable.

Packaging

Leading the pack in sustainable packaging! We’ve been using recyclable materials for more than ten years, diverting millions of packages from landfills. But our quest for eco-friendly solutions never ends – We’re always on the lookout for materials that are better for our planet.

Sustainability in Action

#1 – Recyclable Packaging: We’re committed to minimizing our environmental impact, especially by keeping packaging out of landfills. We continuously search for innovative ways to use less material and ensure what we do use is recyclable. We’re proud to have all of our retail packages using fully recyclable #1PETE packaging.

#2 – Feed Improvements –Did you know that a bird’s diet can be a major factor in reducing carbon emissions? In fact, it’s one of the biggest contributors to a farm’s environmental impact. That’s why we work with a team of experts to create delicious, nutritious food for our birds that’s also good for the planet. It reduces greenhouse gas emissions while keeping our birds happy and healthy with good digestion and gut health.

#3 – Waste Management: We take a holistic approach to waste reduction, starting all the way at the farm. This includes responsibly repurposing manure as fertilizer for partner farms, meticulously recycling operational waste, and continuously seeking innovative ways to minimize overall waste generation across our entire operation.

#4 – Making Investments and internal training –We’re investing in sourcing from eco-conscious producers, using recycled materials in packaging, and training our teams on minimizing waste. Additionally, we’re exploring more renewable energy options and working towards more sustainable chicken raising practices.

#5 – Reducing Energy Use: We’re constantly evaluating ways to optimize energy consumption at our facilities. This might involve adopting energy-saving lighting and equipment, improving insulation, or utilizing smart technology for efficient operations.
