German Apple Compote

With its soft, slightly chunky texture, this compote has both depth and flavour. Enhanced by the wine, the garlic and onions add a rich, aromatic base while the mustard introduces a tangy, slightly spicy bite. The perfect complement to our Bratwurst Chicken Sausages.

Ingredients

  • 3 apples, peeled, cored and diced
  • 1/4 white onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 85 ml Gewurztraminer wine
  • stone ground German mustard

Directions

  • Sweat onions and garlic until transluscent
  • Add diced apples and cook on low until they start to soften
  • Add wine and cook on medium heat for 4 minutes
  • Add mustard
  • Serve warm or cold
